South Korea to import 210,000,000 eggs due to impacts of bird flu

Headline:  WATT Poultry, 7/24/2026

WATT Poultry staff reports:
The move follows a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreak that began in South Korea in November 2025 and led to the culling of approximately 11.3 million laying hens. Combined with disease at breeder farms and livestock movement restrictions, the outbreak has kept daily egg production at 46 million to 47 million eggs, below the 50 million South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs says is needed for a stable market.
