Madison real estate news: Expect a new South Webster streetscape now that GEF 2 and GEF 3 have been sold

Father and son Brad and Mark Binkowski haven’t finalized their plans for the 2.5-acre South Webster Street property, but they’re envisioning around 300 to 400 apartments, likely some commercial space and a large open area between the buildings, Mark Binkowski said. 

General Executive Facility 2 and 3 — better known as GEF 2 and 3 — formerly housed state agencies including the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Public Instruction and Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, which have been relocated to other state buildings over the last few years. People are also reading.

 

According to Merriam-Webster, 'overhaul' is defined as to renovate, remake, revise, or renew thoroughly.  That doesn't seem to be what Brad and Mark Binkowski have in mind.

The State Natural Resources Building, also know as General Executive Facility (GEF) 2, was constructed in 1978 and occupied in April of 1980. It contains 223,270 GSF of office space on six (6) stories above ground. There are also two basement levels (first level accesses Plaza between GEF 2 & 3).
