Headline:  WATT Poultry, 3/3/2026

Roy Graber reports:
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) reported that on February 27, HPAI was confirmed at a commercial egg laying hen farm in Hyde County, North Carolina. The flock included 3,263,100 birds, making it the largest flock to be affected by HPAI in the United States so far this year
In Maryland, the presence of HPAI was confirmed in a Caroline County broiler flock that included 95,600 birds. That situation was confirmed on March 2.
For Maryland, this is the fourth commercial broiler flock to be struck by HPAI in 2026. Three of those have been in Caroline County, while the other was in Wicomico County.
