The popularity of James as a baby name is graphed here.   Let's take a look at grandson Dustin.

The Hollywood power of suggestion.  Dustin leapt onto the baby names chart in 1968, the same year that The Graduate was up for 7 Oscars, including Dustin Hoffman for Best Actor in a Leading Role.  (It won the statuette in only one category:  Best Picture.)  He ended up spending 23 years (1975-1987) in the top 100, peaking at #41in 1985.   He's now a long drop from his peak.

In Wisconsin, Waupaca County, where Veterans Home of King is located, has been on fire with the virus for the past two months

Number of new cases is up nearly 80% from previous week.

The percentage of county residents fully vaccinated is 9 percentage points below the state average of 59%.

"We have a vulnerable population — a population who live in a home and they depend on the staff that come in," said Kolar. "I ask, I’m pleading, encouraging, whatever I can do to encourage people, if you haven’t been vaccinated to get vaccinated."
Wisconsin’s DVA manages three veterans homes, serving nearly 1,000 veterans and their spouses. The facilities are all certified Medicare and Medicaid providers, which means they must meet certain requirements to receive federal funding. As of last week, those requirements include ensuring that all staff are vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the year.

75-year-old Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder embarrasses Wisconsin

Meet Judge Schroeder
Masked up and ready for work

The longest serving current judge in Wisconsin, Schroeder previously garnered national attention and accusations of favor to the defense in late October when he said the people shot by Rittenhouse couldn't be called "victims" during the trial.
Barring the use of "victims" is a regular part of his courtroom practices. But his decision to allow the same people to be called "rioters, looters and arsonists" began a pattern of Rittenhouse's critics blasting the judge as biased and Rittenhouse's supporters celebrating the judge's decisions.
Wendy Rittenhouse told FOX News Channel’s Sean Hannity she had been told by locals that "he doesn't allow no nonsense in his courtroom.
"Those comments came as Schroeder's latest controversy gained national attention. On Thursday he attempted a joke in response to an inquiry about a lunch break: “I hope the Asian food isn’t coming ... isn’t on one of those boats along Long Beach Harbor," he said.

At its meeting July 24, the Middleton Westport Joint Zoning Committee reviewed the plan, which includes 16 residential units – nine single-family homes and seven free-standing condominiums – on a 6 ½-acre parcel that would connect to Redtail Pass.
“If it works out with Middleton, it should be fine, and if our retail and residences there are taken care of, it should be fine,” said Town of Westport Administrator/Attorney Tom Wilson.

It didn't work out as planned.

The Northlake Neighborhood wanted no condos, no apartments.  It would bring "those people" into their midst.  Of course, they outwardly made 'water retention'  and 'safety' their main concerns.

GET ME REWRITE: GOP Usual Suspects in Wisconsin legislature are on board with Testing Industry Appropriations Act

Pacheco said assessing students when they just start attending school for the first time also runs into a general pitfall of academic testing, which shows up repeatedly in studies of the SAT and other standardized tests — they can be a better measure of what resources kids have at home than of kids’ academic abilities.  [emphasis added]

GET ME REWRITE: Clown in Wisconsin Assembly shows us what faux outrage looks like

During the hearing, state Rep. John Macco, R-Ledgeview, said the commissioners' absence, as well as the speed of their reaction to the audit, is unacceptable. "We're all sitting here cooling our jets," Macco said. "I find it absolutely repugnant that nobody could show up."

Macco is gearing up for what will most assuredly be a failed run for Governor.  He won't survive the GOP primary.

Concentrating the Dem vote, as suggested by the Leahs.  (See slide below)

Surprising that they didn't gerrymander the Village of Brown Deer.

Now way too diverse for GOP tastes.
