Roy Graber reports:
A commercial poultry flock in Shelby County, Texas, has tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) announced.
According to a press release from TAHC, the case has been confirmed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). However, as of the morning of December 15, APHIS did not have any information concerning this situation on its website. Information concerning the type of flock involved or how many birds were in the flock has not yet been disclosed. [emphasis added]
TAHC stated that “considerable mortality” had been reported in the flock, and samples were submitted to a Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory and confirmed December 11.
