In Japan, 30% of bird flu cases this winter are at sites where there was a previous infection

Cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza have been confirmed at poultry farms and other locations in Japan for six consecutive winter seasons since 2020, and more than 30% of outbreaks detected this winter occurred at sites that have had infections before[emphasis added]
The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry has started considering vaccinating birds as a sweeping measure to deal with the problem, but there are many obstacles to implementing such a plan.
