The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rual Development (MDARD) reported that on November 10, the presence of HPAI was confirmed in Allegan County. There, a flock of 35,600 commercial meat turkeys was affected.
This is the sixth commercial flock in Michigan to be hit by HPAI in Michigan in 2025, but only the first in Allegan County, as the other five were all in Ottawa County. The only other time HPAI was confirmed in Allegan County during the entire 2022-25 outbreak involved a backyard flock.
Further northwest, the presence of HPAI was also confirmed in a commercial poultry flock in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on November 10, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported. Information concerning the flock type or size was not made public.
