'Unprecedent' outbreak of bird flu in ravaged Lancaster County Pennsylvania

 Headline:  Fox 43, 2/18/2026

James Corrigan reports:
Lancaster County is experiencing a dramatic surge in Hi-Path Avian Influenza cases, marking the Commonwealth’s worst outbreak in decades.
According to Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, the state has seen cases more than triple in a matter of days, jumping from 2.3 million to 7.2 million in Lancaster County alone over a ten-day period, the most severe outbreak since the 1980s.
Redding says the virus has impacted operations of all sizes, from backyard farms to large-scale producers like Kreider Farms, with poultry and egg producers bearing the brunt of the spread.
“It's both unprecedented and sad when we see what's happening,” Redding said. “We have a lot of people whose livelihoods depend on this. A lot of supply structures are built around a very vibrant poultry industry. But at the end of the day, every positive means an interrupted business.”
