Avian influenza in Maryland
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) reported that in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, a commercial broiler flock became a confirmed case. The flock included 96,200 chickens.
The situation had earlier been reported as a presumed positive case by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
Six commercial poultry flocks in Maryland have been affected by HPAI so far in 2025, with all six being broiler flocks. This is the first case to be confirmed in the state since February.
Avian influenza in Arkansas
In Drew County, Arkansas, HPAI was confirmed in a flock of 19,400 broiler breeders. This is the fourth commercial poultry flock in Arkansas to be hit by HPAI in 2025. The other three instances all occurred in Cleveland County, one of which was confirmed six days earlier.
Avian influenza in Kansas
APHIS reported that a commercial upland gamebird flock in Jewell County, Kansas, became a confirmed HPAI situation. The flock involved 13,100 gamebirds, which were being raised for release.
