GET ME REWRITE: Spineless Louisiana GOP US Senator Bill Cassidy M.D. under siege from members of his own party

Kace Kieschnick reports:
The big political story for 2026 will be the U.S. Senate race as Republican incumbent Bill Cassidy faces several challengers from his own party. State Treasurer John Fleming, state senator Blake Miguez, state representative Julie Emerson and PSC Commissioner Eric Skrmetta are seeking to unseat Cassidy. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat said Cassidy has one big advantage. “He’s the incumbent,” said Pinsonat.
“He’s gonna have $10-$12 million. You can’t count him out, but he’ gonna have a really tough re-election.”
Cassidy is facing a difficult re-election campaign because he voted to impeach President Donald Trump 2021 after the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, which angered many pro-Trump.

Trump cognitive decline: More than a month later, Trump contradicts his doctor

Top headline: KVUE
Bottom headline:  ABC News

From the Associated Press:
Sean Barbabella said in a statement that Trump’s physical exam included “advanced imaging” that is “standard for an executive physical” in Trump’s age group. Barbabella concluded that the cardiovascular and abdominal imaging was “perfectly normal.”
“The purpose of this imaging is preventative: to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function,” the doctor wrote.
The White House released Barbabella's memo after Trump on Sunday said he would release the results of the scan. He and the White House have said the scan was “part of his routine physical examination” but had declined until Monday to detail why Trump had an MRI during his physical in October at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center or on what part of his body.

GET ME REWRITE: Americans lose hundreds of millions of dollars to klepto ATM scams

Jowi Morales reports:
The authorities are acting against cryptocurrency ATM providers, saying that they’re “pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars in undisclosed fees on the backs of scam victims.” The U.S. Attorney General even sued Athena Bitcoin, with the lawsuit pointing out the 93% of the transactions on its ATMs “are the product of outright fraud,” with victims having a median age of 71 years. In its defense, Athena told ABC News that it has “strong safeguards against fraud, including transparent instructions, prominent warnings, and customer education.” An Athena rep also said, “Just as a bank isn’t held responsible if someone willingly sends funds to someone else, Athena does not control users’ decisions.”
