A man was arrested at the protest encampment on Madison’s Near East Side after what an organizer said was a racially motivated attack early Wednesday night.
Police have not yet identified the man protest organizer Alan Robinson described as white and in his 30s or 40s.
Police spokesperson Stephanie Fryer said police had been using a drone to monitor the encampment that’s taken over the intersection of Baldwin and Williamson streets and saw a disturbance there and responded to the scene. She said people at the encampment also called police. [emphasis added]
