Trump picks his team; so far an ungodly and even manlier group than it was just minutes ago

New York Times, 11/12/2024
The choice of Mr. Hegseth was outside the norm of the traditional defense secretary. But he was a dedicated supporter of Mr. Trump during his first term, defending his interactions with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, embracing his “America First” agenda of trying to withdraw U.S. troops from abroad and energetically taking up the cause of combat veterans accused of war crimes.

JUST 1466 DAYS TO GO UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2028!!!!

Headline:  Politico, 11/11/2024

How about Josh or Gavin or Pete  (Note that they're all white guys.)
Josh Shapiro is already fielding calls from Democratic Party leaders in Pennsylvania urging him to run for president. Gavin Newsom held a Friday call with about 50,000 people in his small-donor network and called a special legislative session designed to Trump-proof California. And Pete Buttigieg is set to tout his Cabinet accomplishments in a series of events as he winds down his official role.

From chapter 57:
No more typical scene of the West can be well imagined than this one, about halfway between Kremmling, Colorado, and Muddy Pass.
To begin, literally, at the bottom, we may note the stream, along which willows, elders, and other small trees grow in such profusion as completely to hide the water itself.

Wedding day murder in the Name of the Lord (Georgia edition)

#50 in a series

Photo and headline The Christian Post, 11/10/2024
The ex-pastor had two girlfriends simultaneously, both believing they were his true love. The two women discovered each other in May 2015 when they both showed up to surprise him on National Pastor Appreciation Day, leading to turmoil.
The Georgia Supreme Court noted that Pounds lied to both women, manipulating them into staying with him.
In June 2015, Pounds was set to marry Vicinda Crawford, but on the day of the wedding, his other girlfriend, Kendra Jackson, was found dead from a gunshot wound. Pounds claimed Jackson had shot herself in his bedroom after learning of his plans to marry Crawford, but evidence at trial contradicted this.
Pretty clear.

GET ME REWRITE: White Nationalist Stephen Miller is BAAAACK!!!!!

The New Republic, 11/11/2024
Miller previously served as the senior adviser for policy and White House director of speechwriting under Trump’s first term, and his appointment comes as little surprise: The 39-year-old was expected—since at least the beginning of the year—to reenter the West Wing as the leading expert on “America First” immigration policy.
The far-right politico has made a name for himself for his vicious anti-immigrant policies, which include proposals to build mass deportation camps and deploy the military and the national guard to seal the border, promising a forthcoming reality of “large-scale raids” and “throughput facilities.”

Variety, 11/10/2024
Although those new releases weren’t able to topple “Venom 3” from No. 1, they opened on the higher end of expectations, thanks to word-of-mouth and the otherwise desolate movie theater landscape. Hollywood mostly avoided the post-election weekend out of concern that people wouldn’t be paying attention to anything other than the presidential race. As a result, overall domestic box office revenues remain down more than 11% from 2023 and nearly 27% from 2019, according to Comscore.
