Germany reports 10 poultry flocks infected with Newcastle disease

According to WOAH, the following infections have been confirmed in Germany: 
  • 200,000 broilers in Storkow 
  • 11,000 breeding hens in Spreenhagen 
  • 15,000 breeding hens in Spreenhagen 
  • 12,000 breeding hens in Spreenhagen 
  • 13,000 turkeys in Küstriner Vorland 
  • 70,000 broilers in Oderaue 
  • 39,900 turkeys in Gangkofen 
  • 400 birds in a mixed backyard flock in Oberding 
  • 30,000 broilers in Buchbach \ 
  • 95,000 broilers in Oberbergkirchen
Germany’s poultry industry has been battling Newcastle disease since the first recent cases were reported in February. Prio to that, the country had been free of the virus since 2008, WOAH reported.
