Roy Graber reports:
Avian influenza in Georgia
Georgia’s most recent flock infection involved 71,300 commercial broiler breeders in Walker County. That situation was confirmed on January 13. Prior to this, the last time Georgia had a confirmed case of HPAI was October 24, 2025, when a commercial broiler flock in Gordon County was affected. Georgia had three flocks struck by HPAI in 2025, and before that, the commercial poultry industry in the state had been spared of the virus. The only other commercial operation in Georgia to have been hit by HPAI involved raised for release waterfowl, with that incident occurring in November 2023.
Avian influenza in Minnesota
The presence of HPAI was confirmed in a flock of 9,000 commercial turkey breeder hens in Meeker County on January 12, APHIS reported. Before this, Minnesota’s last case of HPAI in a commercial poultry operation was confirmed on December 9, 2025, in Waseca County.
