1990s Print Reference Collection: Index Table with Thomas Register and Reader's Guide
Pound for pound, the Thomas Register of American Manufacturers, the bigger green books in the above photo, gave libraries quite the value for their reference collection development dollar. The multi-volume set was published annually and used thousands of subject categories to organize its listings of companies.
The most recent print edition for which a citation is available in LINKcat is 2006, the last year the Thomas Register was published in print.
Spine color-coding:
Spine color-coding:
- Red: Alphabetical listing of products and services
- Yellow: Indexes

- Trademarks and Brands
- Blue: Company profiles
Kit Noller cranks up the excitement level in this video presentation about ThomasNet.
As for Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature, a print edition is still being pubished by the H. W. Wilson Company.
It doesn't appear that any LINKcat libraries still subscribe.
