Jason Salzman reports:
In 2024, columnist Logan M. Davis wrote an investigative series, headlined Fire on the Mountain, which pulled back the veil of secrecy around Wommack’s Colorado-based ministry and revealed allegations of widespread abuse within. In the aftermath of that investigation, Wommack announced that he would be stepping down from his leadership position. Logan also wrote the first full accounting of the Narrowgate cult, which operated in the 1990s, and intersects with Wommack.
Wommack makes no secret of his Christian nationalism, saying, for example, in 2022: “It doesn’t matter what they say. America was founded to be a Christian nation. It’s not functioning that way at this moment.”
According to Merriam-Webster, the first known use of the noun phrase 'kiss of death', as in something (such as an act or association) ultimately causing ruin, occurred in 1943.
