Roy Graber reports:
For the second consecutive day, the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was confirmed in three commercial duck flocks in Indiana.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) reported that on March 24, HPAI was confirmed in two commercial meat duck flocks in LaGrange County. One flock included 9,800 birds and the other included 6,300 birds. Also on March 24, HPAI was confirmed in a flock of 4,800 meat ducks in Elkhart County.
These three flock infections come one day after the presence of HPAI was confirmed in duck flocks in Elkhart, LaGrange and Adams counties. The Adams County case was a commercial duck breeder operation, while the other two were meat duck flocks.
No state has lost as many commercial poultry flocks in 2026 as Indiana has. The state so far this year has had 32 commercial flocks affected by HPAI.
