Bird flu die-off of about 500 Canadian geese reported in Manitoba

Headline:  CBC Lite, 1/23/2026
Around 500 bird carcasses, mostly Canada geese, were found near water streams in southern Manitoba during early December. Separate clusters of dead birds were found near the Red River north of Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway, but the highest concentration was found in a group of ponds in Niverville.
Frank Baldwin, a biologist with the Canadian Wildlife Service, told CBC News on Thursday samples of the birds were sent to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency after they tested positive for avian influenza, also known as bird flu, to determine the strain of the infection.

Meet Iowa Clown Show sponsoring a bill to allow over-the-counter sales of ivermectin

Headline:  Des Moines Register, 1/23/2026

Marissa Payne reports:
Under the legislation, the pharmacist must give the manufacturer’s label instructions for the drug when it's dispensed. Pharmacists would be barred from requiring patients get a prescription or schedule an appointment before the drug is dispensed. They also could not keep records of the transactions.
It would give pharmacists immunity from criminal and civil liability over damages stemming from a patient's use of ivermectin.
Reps. John Wills, R-Spirit Lake; Charley Thomson, R-Charles City; and Mark Thompson, R-Clarion; co-sponsored the measure.
