Chris Lee reports:
According to a March 2 news release, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has identified a case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) – also known as bird flu or avian flu – in Dane County.
The case was found in a backyard poultry flock in Edgerton that had 55 birds on site, all of them assorted types of poultry, said DATCP Communications Director Sam Go.
“They were all euthanized,” Go said.
This is the second confirmed bird flu case in poultry this year for Wisconsin, the first having been found in Jefferson County, she said.
