Headline:  WTHI, 2/9/2026
The Vigo County Soil and Water Conservation District (VCSWCD) said 500 dead crows were collected on Wednesday, Feb. 4 and Thursday, Feb. 5. Most were found in Terre Haute's mid-town region, with 190 crows collected in one area just north of Wabash Avenue on Thursday.
VCSWCD, Vigo County Health Department and the mayor's office met with IDNR on Friday. Officials said 50 more dead crows were counted, and some will be tested.
Back in December, 60 crows were collected and all 60 tested positive for Avian Influenza. Officials said there's a good chance the crows collected on Friday will also test positive. [emphasis added]
