Plantaform's Smart Indoor Garden, which CNET's ground team was able to sneak a peek at during CES 2025, is designed to allow you to grow herbs, vegetables and additional produce inside your home, making it a great solution for people who want fresh ingredients year round with minimal work.
The groundbreaking product is made in Canada and uses a combination of fog and nutrients to water the plants' roots, also known as "fogponics."

From History:
“Kill the Indian in him, and save the man.”
Richard Henry Pratt, 1892
That was the mindset under which the U.S. government forced tens of thousands of Native American children to attend “assimilation” boarding schools in the late 19th century. Decades later, those words—delivered in a speech by U.S. cavalry captain Richard Henry Pratt, who opened the first such school in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1879—have come to symbolize the brutality of the boarding school system.

More than 100 chickens, geese, ducks and other birds at the farm at Hess-Hathaway Park in Waterford have been culled after some of them tested positive for the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu, township Supervisor Anthony Bartolotta said Friday.
The birds were identified Thursday by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Urban Development as being a "backyard flock" in Oakland County with the virus.

HeadlineWisconsin Public Radio, 1/10/2025
Department of Public Instruction employees have already cleared out of a brutalist state office building known as GEF 3 (foreground), according to a Vision 2030 update released this week. It’s eventually going to be listed for sale in conjunction with the neighboring GEF 2 building (background), which houses the state’s Department of Natural Resources. (The GEF acronym, pronounced like “Jeff,” refers to General Executive Facility.)

They're designed to be flush with your ear, which means you can sleep on your side without feeling them pressing into you. That also prevents them from falling out of your ear. Sleep-enhancing perks include biometric sensors in the earbuds that can track your sleep, sensors in the case that can identify potential sleep interruptions in your room, an in-ear alarm that won't wake up a sleeping partner and a 10-hour battery life, so you won't wake up to a dead battery notification. You can even play sound directly from the Sleepbuds, without connecting to another Bluetooth device, which means you won't even have to look at your phone before going to bed.

CES 2025: Miroki Robot

Screengrab from video below

CNET, 1/11/2025
It's not Miroka's first rodeo at CES, but the social robot from French company Enchanted Tools hit an important milestone in the last 12 months: It finally went on sale and people have been buying it. In terms of character design, Miroka is one of the most sophisticated robots we've met, and it's got an impressive array of capabilities, too. It's agile thanks to its roller base, it has opposable thumbs for picking things up and carrying them, and it can also converse with people. Want one? It will set you back a whopping 100,000 euros[emphasis added]

CES 2025: Ropet, fuzzy robot pet

Screengrab from video below

CNET, 1/11/2025
As its name suggests, Ropet is a robot pet and it loves nothing more than you stroking its fuzzy outer coat. Ropet's appearance can differ based on the color of its fur and face (which are both interchangeable), as well its accessories. But if I had to commit to a description, I'd say it's a sort of lamb-seal-owl hybrid. It's not just a pretty face either; there's some smarts going on behind those eyes. Using the camera in its nose (where else?) it can recognize different food types and if you show it, say, an orange, oranges will then appear in its eyes. It will dance to nearby music, and even chat with you using AI when it's connected to Wi-Fi, which is more than my cat can do.

CES 2025: Marine monitoring Turtle Robot

Screengrab from video below

CNET, 1/11/2025

Based on the rest of its product line, the RoboTurtle will likely be priced north of $1,000.
Beatbot is better know for making pool-cleaning robots, but the company brought a concept droid to CES that really caught our eye... because it looks like a turtle. The RoboTurtle can move from water to land just like a real turtle and is designed to access amphibious environments for detailed research. Thanks to its turtlelike fins, it can explore ecosystems with minimal impact on wildlife. As well as tracking species and monitoring biodiversity, it can be deployed quickly to prevent and respond to disasters.

Turtle robot description starts at 0:53.
