Roy Graber reports:
Normally, when a company has one of those waving, inflatable tube men setting outside of their place of business, it is a way to gain attention with hopes of bringing people inside.
But in the case of Rose Acre Farms, the second largest egg producer in the United States and fourth largest in the world, it is a way of gaining attention to keep wild birds away. \
In a LinkedIn post, Rose Acre Farms asked “Hey, have you noticed some new friendly figures around our farms lately?” while showing a picture of such an inflatable man outside one of its barns.
“We’ve added inflatable tube men around our farms in an effort to help further deter wild bird activity near our chickens during migration. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) aka ‘bird flu’ is carried by wild birds. It’s a highly infectious disease, and it’s devastating to egg farms like ours,” the company explained.
