Tom Schmidt reports:
Goose hunting season in Missouri is well underway, and doesn’t end until February 6. Arkansas’s season typically ends on January 31.
Some goose hunting guides, however, are finding it more difficult to find the birds.
Ryan Henderson owns a waterfowl hunting guide service south of Little Rock, Arkansas, and says the decline in goose populations is noticeable. In fact, he’s even finding dozens of dead geese while hunting.
“Avian influenza or bird flu within the population is hitting the snow, blue, and ralph geese hard,” says Henderson.
