Wisconsin 2026 elections: Democrat John Perryman challenges 8-term GOP incumbent Tyler August in 31st Assembly District

Prior to redistricting, the 31st Assembly District straddled Rock and Walworth counties.  It also contained two elements of classic Wisconsin GOP gerrymandering:  packing the eastern boundary of the City of Janesville and cracking a chunk on the east side of the City of Beloit. (See below for details.)

The redrawn 31st is now located mostly in Walworth County, the exceptions being the towns of Bradford and Clinton in southeast Rock County.

Majority Leader Tyler August was elected to an 8th term Wisconsin Assembly by a nearly 30-point margin in 2024 in a solidly red district.   Despite the odds against his candidacy Democratic challenger John Perryman is working hard to get his name and platform out there.  One hopeful note is that Chris Taylor nearly flipped Walworth County in the April 2026 Wisconsin Supreme Court election.

Cambodia’s National Institute of Public Health announced on Saturday that the patient is a 9-month-old girl from Preaek Ta Kong village in Phnom Penh, the country’s capital. She has been hospitalized and is receiving intensive care.
