Roy Graber reports:
Two of those flock infections were in Elkhart County, while Jay County and Adams County each had one flock affected, according to information provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
Both Elkhart County flocks involved commercial meat ducks. One flock infection was confirmed on March 17 and included 6,900 ducks. The other case was confirmed on March 19 and included 14,500 ducks.
The Jay County and the Adams County flocks both involved commercial duck breeders, and both cases were confirmed on March 17. The Jay County flock included 3,100 birds, while the Adams County flock included 2,800 birds.
So far in 2026, Indiana has had more commercial poultry flocks struck by HPAI than any other U.S. state. With these four instances, APHIS lists the number of confirmed commercial poultry flock infections this year at 24. [emphasis added]
