Spain and Poland reports cases of Newcastle Disease

The situation in Spain 
In Spain, a flock of 200,040 laying hens in Castello De Rugat was struck by the virus. This is the tenth poultry flock in Spain to be hit by Newcastle disease since December 2025. Of those, seven have been in Castello De Rugat. 
Prior to the current outbreak, Spain had been free of Newcastle disease since 2022. 
The situation in Poland 
The latest instance of Newcastle disease in Poland was confirmed in Wielowiczek, where a commercial mixed flock farm was struck. A total of 35,283 birds were affected, and that flock included laying hens, broilers, slaughter ducks, slaughter geese, turkeys and guinea fowl. 
Approximately 150 flocks in Poland have been struck by the disease since the current outbreak began in September 2024.
