Bird flu hits California broiler chicken farm

Headline:  WATT Poultry, 2/10/2026

Roy Graber reports:
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) reported that the flock was in Sonoma County and included 84,000 broilers.
This is the first instance of HPAI being confirmed in a commercial poultry flock in California in 2026, although the presence of the virus was also confirmed in a commercial upland gamebird flock in the state in early January. That situation occurred in Butte County and affected 34,600 birds.
