First bird flu and now a war in Iran, poultry producers face a double whammy

Headline:  WATT Poultry, 4/1/2026

Mark Clements reports:
While the focus has tended to be on oil and gas, the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the BPC notes, has also disrupted the flow of numerous other key inputs, including fertilizer, and essential feed components, resulting in knock-on impacts that are placing significant strain on the poultry sector.
Energy and fuel inflation will increase costs across every link in the supply chain, with the price rise of liquified petroleum gas, used for heating poultry sheds, being a particular vulnerability. [emphasis added]
