Marisa Payne reports:
House File 571 says that a health practitioner or institution has the right to refuse a service that violates their conscience.
The bill would shield them from discrimination over their refusal of service. The measure defines "conscience" as ethical, moral or religious beliefs or principles held by a health care provider or institution.

Medical conscience objection laws have existed at the state and federal levels for years, mostly geared toward protecting providers who refuse to perform an abortion or sterilization procedure.
Critics say a recent wave of measures passed or introduced in statehouses across the U.S. have gone further to undermine patient care and diminish the standard of care people receive.
Surprised the Iowa GOP made time for this as they've been so busy demonizing their transgender residents.
