End of an era: Far-right Ottawa impact member Joe Moss loses bid for 2nd term as chair of Ottawa County Commission

Headlinemlive, 1/2/2025
Former Chair Joe Moss, head of the political faction Ottawa Impact, was nominated as chair but lost in a 7-4 vote. All four remaining Ottawa Impact commissioners voted for Moss.
Moss has led the board since January 2023 after he and seven other members linked to Ottawa Impact were elected in November 2022.
During his leadership, the Ottawa Impact majority faction of commissioners made numerous controversial moves, including dismantling the county’s diversity office, firing then-Administrator John Shay and trying to fire county Health Officer Adeline Hambley.
