Ottawa County’s ultra-conservative 2023 leadership spawned legal action not seen in years for a county perhaps known better for beaches and farmland.
As of today, the county is battling four separate lawsuits at once. They involve claims of wrongful termination, age discrimination, religious discrimination and the state Open Meetings Act.
Critics of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners majority faction say commissioners are spending too much on legal fees. Some of those detractors are now running for board seats in this year’s election.
