Trump tariffs disrupt the plans of small businesses

Ricardo Torres reports on the destructive idiocy of Trump's tariffs:
Weyco Group, which is one of the local companies suing the Trump administration for its tariff policies, paid $16 million for tariffs in 2025, the company reported during a call with analysts and investors on March 4.
The Glendale-based shoe manufacturer reported making $23.1 million in 2025, which is down 24% from $30.3 million in 2024.
Weyco Group CEO Tom Florsheim said tariffs caused prices to increase between 19-50% depending on the country.
“For an extended period during the second quarter we faced tariff rates that rendered trade with China, our largest sourcing country, commercially prohibitive,” Florsheim said on the quarterly call. “Because the second quarter is a primary manufacturing period for our key fall shipping window, this created a strong likelihood of disrupted deliveries to both our wholesale partners and direct to consumer business.”
