Roy Graber reports:
The situation, which was confirmed on February 6, was previously announced by APHIS, as well as the Mississippi Board of Animal Health, but at the time, information concerning the size of the affected flock had not yet been disclosed.
The last time a commercial poultry flock in Mississippi was struck by HPAI prior to this latest case was March 12, 2025, when 47,700 broiler breeders in Noxubee County were lost. That was the state’s only commercial flock to fall to HPAI in 2025.
The state had two commercial flocks hit by HPAI in 2024, and one each in 2023 and 2022.
