MISCREANT PREACHERS: Child solicitation in the Name of the Lord (#160 in a series)

Jacob Ryan Barnett, 34, was arrested by FBI agents in North Carolina on Wednesday, August 6. Barnett, a youth pastor at Catawba Valley Baptist Church, is accused of solicitation of sexual material from minors, according to investigators from the DOJ. He is being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility in North Carolina without bond.  

The FBI received a tip that Barnett had attempted to groom a 15-year-old girl living in Michigan. Investigators discovered that on Sunday, May 18, 2025, the 15-year-old girl received a message that appeared to belong to a teen boy who called himself, “Jodie Johnson”, according to court records.

Barnett, posing as the fake teen boy, exchanged phone numbers with the victim and after a few days of persistent messaging, convinced her to send him a sexually explicit video of herself, said court docs.
