MISCREANT PREACHERS: Rape in the Name of the Lord (#220 in a series)

A nationally known pastor and televangelist reported to have ties to Siloam Springs was arrested in Missouri on Wednesday on suspicion of raping and molesting underage girls since the 1970s. 

Joseph Lyle Campbell, 68, of Missouri is accused in Oklahoma of rape in the first degree and lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16, according to an indictment filed against him in that state. The indictment states the crimes occurred in 1984 while Campbell was the youth pastor at the Eastland Assembly of God Church in Tulsa. 

Between May 1 and Oct. 1 of that year, he raped an 11- or 12-year-old girl in the garage of his home, according to the indictment. In addition, he is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl at the church between March 1 and Dec. 1, 1984.
