MISCREANT PREACHERS: Child abuse in the Name of the Lord (#130 in a series)

Myron Chorbajian is the pastor of 1st Southern Methodist Church in Greenville. He and his wife reportedly adopted numerous children over the years. 

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said deputies launched an investigation in April after a victim reported “extensive abuse” beginning in the 1980s at the hands of Chorbajian. 

According to arrest warrants, Chorbajian sexually abused multiple female children and forced a child to “search dumpsters and eat rotten and discarded food.” 

In one instance, the warrant says Chorbajian paddled a naked victim 50 times. In another instance, he beat a child with a belt until the victim lost consciousness, the warrant states. Investigators said he forced a victim to eat dirt from the floor.
