Avian influenza in Alberta 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported that HPAI was confirmed Oct. 7 in a commercial poultry flock in Sturgeon County, Alberta. CFIA did not disclose what type of poultry was involved or how many birds were in the flock. 

This is the sixth commercial poultry flock in Alberta to be struck by HPAI in 2026, and the second in October.
