Highly pathogenic avian influenza has infected four commercial poultry flocks in Manitoba in September, with three new cases confirmed on September 21 and 22 in the rural municipalities of Cartier, Rockwood, and Rhineland, making Manitoba the only Canadian province with confirmed HPAI cases since spring. 

• Four Manitoba flocks infected: The first case was confirmed September 10 in De Salaberry, identified as a turkey flock, followed by three additional cases on September 21-22. 

• HPAI locations: New cases confirmed in Cartier, Rockwood, and Rhineland rural municipalities. 

• Canada's only active outbreak: Manitoba remains the sole Canadian province with confirmed HPAI cases since spring; the previous case was May 16 in Alberta. 

• U.S. spread continues: Four American states—Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin—reported HPAI detections in September.
