Racine County Wisconsin reports bird flu on backyard flock

A backyard poultry facility in Racine CountA y has reported a new case of bird flu, bringing Wisconsin’s total to six cases this year. 

The positive case of highly pathogenic avian influenza, or HPAI, was identified Saturday in a flock of 121 birds, the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection reported Tuesday. 

Birds on the property have been killed to prevent the spread of the disease and will not enter the food system, officials said.
