Manitoba reports case of bird flu, Canada's first in nearly 4 months

Canada's nearly four-month stretch with no new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) came to an end on Sept. 10. 
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported that the presence of the virus was confirmed that day in a commercial poultry flock in De Salaberry, Manitoba. No information concerning the type of poultry involved or how many birds were in the flock was provided by CFIA.
