Texas Governor Greg Abbott will not attend President Donald Trump's San Antonio rally on Wednesday amid a tightening gubernatorial race, it has been reported.
Abbott's absence is due to his other planned campaign events, The Houston Chronicle's Ben Wermund wrote on X.
Abbott has good reason to keep his distance from Trump. His re-election was supposed to be a cakewalk.
According to Merriam-Webster, the first known use of 'cakewalk' as in a one-sided contest : an easy victory, occurred in 1863.
