Avian flu in Minnesota
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Health Inspection Agency (APHIS), the presence of HPAI was confirmed Oct. 6 in a commercial meat turkey flock in Stearns County. The flock included 34,400 turkeys.
This case follows an earlier case in Stearns County, confirmed Sept. 28, with 77,200 meat turkeys affected.
This is the 18th commercial poultry flock in Minnesota to be lost to HPAI so far in 2026.
