1997.  1st appearance of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), which infected migratory birds worldwide.

2021.  Emergence of A(H5N1) clade 2.3.4.4b resulted in infection in poultry as well as in other land and sea animals.

2024.  Influenzas A found in Texas dairy herd and has since spread to 875 herds in 16 states.

2024.  Cases in humans confirmed.
