GET ME REWRITE: Meet the older, mostly white, rural residents of Town of Albion in Dane County Wisconsin

One of the more recent transplants is Staff’s colleague on the Town Board, Larry Beck, who moved to Albion from Madison to be closer to a job in Janesville. 

After putting down roots, Beck decided to stay put in retirement. Beck thinks the change in voting patterns might be related to long-term trends in demographics and farming but acknowledged he’s mystified by the political shift.

As for the shift in voting patterns, the same thing happened all over rural Iowa, though to a much greater degree than in Albion.
