What to know about the Iran war today:
  • Two oil tankers, one Saudi and one South Korean-owned, were hit by projectiles Monday night as the U.S. and Iran return to hostilities in a 6-month war that appears to be locked in a stalemate, with neither side willing to concede any control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
  • President Trump said Monday that he might order further strikes on Iran, suggesting the "relatively little war" could be set to intensify militarily despite his administration announcing last week a shift to "economic warfare". [emphasis added]
  • The flare-up, which has put global oil prices back on an upward trajectory, began over the weekend when the U.S. launched its first strikes on Iran in a month, saying it hit rocket launchers on an island in the Strait of Hormuz
