President Donald Trump sent a Labor Day threat to Canada’s largest aircraft manufacturer, which employs more than 1,200 workers at its U.S. headquarters in Wichita. [emphasis added]
“NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!” Trump posted to social media Monday afternoon.
Bombardier’s workforce in south-central Kansas is focused primarily on defense work, including preparing Canadian-manufactured planes for special mission purposes. Bombardier holds a multi-year contract with the U.S. Air Force valued at close to $465 million.
Trump’s post went on to say that the company lives “off American Buyers, American Companies, American Airports and American Service” but that if Bombardier wants “our Market, they must build here and stop treating America like a ‘piggybank.’”
