Louisville Branch Library Gets After-School Workout
Link to September 8 Louisville Courier-Journal article, "Students from nearby schools flock to high-tech Newburg library"
Excerpt: Damera Blincoe, a library assistant who lives in the area, said about 200 students come to the library on foot each day after they leave nearby schools that include Newburg Middle, Thomas Jefferson Middle and Liberty High.
“There's seldom a time when we're not full,” she said, adding Mondays are especially busy because the adjacent Newburg Community Center on Indian Trail is closed that day.
The 8,000-square-foot library, which opened just before school began last August, was the Louisville Free Public Library system's first new branch since 1998, and the first newly constructed one in at least 40 years.
