Excerpt: When Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's publisher suggested that she begin a blog in conjunction with her popular series of "Alice" books, she thought it would be something simple.
"I assumed that it would just be something strictly about Alice and the books," Naylor said during a recent interview. "You know, I would give hints about upcoming books, write little pieces about the characters, that sort of thing.
"What I didn't quite expect," she said, "was how much it would be embraced by girls who really identified with Alice and all the problems she goes through."
