Prior to 1928, Karen made four one-and-done appearances on the baby names chart.  Once she caught hold, however, she rocketed into the top tier of baby names for girls, spending 49 years (1938-1986) in the top 100, including 18 years (1951-1968) in the top 10.  She peaked at #3 in 1965.

In 2020, Karen became shorthand for an entitled, demanding white woman.  The name was already in free fall, but this incident caused it to fall off the chart in 2021.
