Indiana House Passes Library Funding Bill Before Democrats Take a Much-Needed Road Trip


Library funding bill passes House by unanimous vote, moves to Senate. (Indianapolis Star, 2/22/2011)

Excerpt: A bill that could lead to more money for the Indianapolis library system passed the state House 97-0 Monday and now heads to the Senate.

House Bill 1539, as amended, would grant the City-County Council more authority to give any Marion County library -- including the ailing Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library -- a cut of county income taxes. A similar provision is contained in Senate Bill 526, a Marion County township reform measure still awaiting a vote in the Senate
